Steps to Understanding God's Plan For Your Health

Beloved, what's stopping you from being in the best health possible, or losing the excess weight that you've been dragging around? Is it lack of time? Lack of motivation? An absence of understanding the value of good health? What if you knew that your good health is a requirement of your heavenly Father up above-would that challenge you to take your health more seriously?

If you're serious about giving God your best, then it's time to understand what God's plan is for your health. Get in agreement with Him to make it happen. God needs the entire body of Christ strong and ready for battle -- strong in body, mind and spirit.

The sooner we can understand that we are not our own and that we were bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:19), the sooner we will understand that every thought, word, deed and action or inaction has an impact on eternity. The health choices you make today will impact your body, your future and the future of the next dimension. And you thought you were just drinking a can of Coke!

I encourage you to approach your health from God's perspective. Let's examine some compelling reasons to take your health and fitness seriously, using God's words.

Your health glorifies God (1 Cor. 6:19-20)
1 Cor. 6:19-20 poses this question to us - "Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body."
Imagine for a minute that your body houses the Holy Spirit. Say to yourself, "the Holy Spirit is living inside me". Wow! Now ask yourself if He is happy with the accommodations. (Smile.) Verse 20 goes on to teach us that we bring glory to God with our bodies. Would God delight in the maintenance of His temple? If this is a difficult question for you to answer, then I encourage you to seek out the Lord for an answer as to what He would have you do.

Your level of health is a representation of the Kingdom (1 Thes. 5:23)
Being sick and tired does not glorify God. It does not invite others to join the Kingdom and it does not strengthen your faith in Christ. In the Kingdom, Christ must control all of us: our body, mind and spirit.

Your level of health will prepare you for the next level (Jer. 12:5)

Like our finances, God gives us our physical health as a test. He wants us to handle the job of taking care of our health well. He tells Jeremiah in 12:5, "If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses?" This can be meant to ask whether physically, mentally or spiritually -- are you fit for God's purposes?

See your health from God's perspective. He wants us well, ready and equipped for His kingdom. Begin to take some small steps today to get in shape for Christ.
